SHS Requirements: 2004-2005

(Non-negotiables; if you plan to join or remain a member, you need to take part in these activities.)

 

á        Scheduled Friday FLEX meetings are mandatory

If you cannot attend for any reason, please inform the sponsor.

á        SHS Bonding Event 10/1/04

A get together is planned to start off the year.  A movie (Buscando a Nemo) will be shown in Spanish with Spanish subtitles. Members who are coming need to pay a fee of $NT50. However, those members who prefer to prepare and bring in their own Spanish dishes to share are not required to pay.

á        Food Fair 10/30/04

This includes bringing in and preparing boxes, working a shift at the booth, and helping with setup/cleanup. Workday (date will be announced): all members and prospective members are expected to work a 20 minute shift in 3B42 any time from 2:50pm onwards.

 

á         Villancicos (Friday 3rd December 2004)

Participate in the annual caroling concert and enjoy some turr—n at the guateque that follows. Rehearsals will take place in November (dates to be announced): you will be required to attend rehearsal during flex.

 

á        SHS Induction Ceremony (Wed. 19th January, 2005) 3:30pm-5:00pm

Prospective and new members will be inducted into our society.

 

á        Officer Elections (date will be announced after the Induction)

Your chance to make a difference! Please check the SHS Bulletin board after the Induction Ceremony for officer job descriptions and let Do–a Carla know if you would like to run.

 

á        Society Banquet, (early spring 2005)

Members pay for their meal;  Hopefully, SHS will be able to

provide transportation. Come and enjoy the wonderful Chilean food and practice your Spanish!

á        Helping Run the Society/ Spanish Tutoring

Individual members are urged to help run the society by taking responsibility for different aspects such as bulletin boards, technology/webpage, serving as Spanish aides, Spanish buddies for the lower levels, tutor at the clinics, etc.
