Kenbrena Activity B
There are seven (7) primary social groups that make up the population of Kenbrena. Read the limited information provided about each social group. Then use the information to assist in answering the questions about each social group.
The Anglese are a combination of several major related groups. They feel superior to other groups and control most of the governmental jobs. The Anglese are financially well-to-do, and make up about 55- 60% of the total population on the continent of Kenbrena.
1. What number of the people of Kenbrena are Anglese? (Be sure to show in terms of numbers, not percentage.) 2. Describe the attitude of the Anglese toward the other groups of people on the continent of Kenbrena. Try to use a simile that begins, “they treat them like….” 3. What important jobs do you think the Anglese probably control? Give at least five specific examples. 4. What general areas would you expect the Anglese to live in: rural, urban, or suburban? Explain your answer.
Social Group 2: The Redars The Redars make up a large minority (about 10- l2%) of the population that has benefited from their demands for equal treatment. They speak the Anglese language, dislike the TALESE, and make up a large number of the unemployed.

Social Group 3: The Saknich The Saknich are another large minority (about 10 - 15% of the total population) who make up the "lower levels" of people and jobs. They speak SAKNICH, with many speaking Anglese also. They get along with other groups of people fairly well.
1. What does it mean when it says, "Saknich make up the lower levels of people and jobs"? 2. About how many people make up the total population of Saknich in numbers? 3. Do these people get along fairly well with other people? Can you describe their relationship to others with a simile?
Social Group 4: Sotrep The Sotrep are closely related to the SAKNICH. They have been strongly influenced by the Franklos. Their language is a mixture of SAKNICH and Franklos. Many also speak Anglese. They dislike the Redars and Anglese. SOTREP make up 2 -5% of the total population and are of the labor class or the unemployment rolls. They tend to stick together.

Social Group 5: Talese The Talese make up 3 - 6% of the population but control much of the financial and business concerns of the continent of Kenbrena. They speak Anglese and tend to stick together in clans. 1. What is meant by "business and financial control"? List five specific examples. 2. How do the Talese tend to live? What does this mean? 3. About how many Talese are there in numbers? 4. What kind of jobs would you expect the Talese to have? List five examples. 5. Where on the continent of Kenbrena would you expect to find the Talese living-- urban, suburban or rural? Explain your answer and support from map information. Social Group 6: Franklos The Franklos tend to get along with most other groups. Many are mixtures of Anglese, Redars, and Sotrep cultures. They make up 3 – 5% of the population and speak Franklos and some Anglese. They are culturally oriented. l. What groups of people are the Franklos made up of? 2. What does CULTURALLY ORIENTED tell us about their occupations? 3. Are these people difficult to get along with? Explain. 4. Where would you expect to find these people living? Explain.
Social Group 7: Jarta
The Jartas make up 4 - 6% of the population and tend to stick together. They speak the Jarta language, with many speaking Anglese. They are primarily of the labor class. Very few Jartas are in positions of decision-making. 1. What number of the population are Jartas? 2. How many languages do they speak generally? What are they? 3. What occupations do they generally have? Give four examples. 4. What area(s) would you expect them to be living in-- urban, suburban or rural? Explain your answer.
